School Performance
Throughout their time at Gorsewood, pupils take part in a range of statutory national assessments which help teachers, parents and the school understand each child's progress and attainment.
The following assessments are completed during primary school:
Reception
Reception Baseline Assessment (RBA)
Children complete the Reception Baseline Assessment within the first six weeks of starting school. This provides a starting point from which progress to the end of primary school can be measured.
Early Years Foundation Stage Profile (EYFSP)
At the end of Reception, children are assessed against the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. Outcomes include whether a child has achieved a Good Level of Development (GLD).
Year 1
Phonics Screening Check
The Year 1 Phonics Screening Check assesses children's decoding and early reading skills, ensuring they can apply their phonics knowledge confidently.
Year 4
Multiplication Tables Check (MTC)
Pupils complete an online assessment to demonstrate their recall of multiplication facts up to 12 × 12.
Year 6
Key Stage 2 SATs
At the end of Year 6, pupils take statutory assessments in:
- Reading
- Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (GPS)
- Mathematics
Teacher assessments are also reported for Writing and Science.

Progress score in reading, writing and maths
We are not able to calculate KS1-KS2 progress scores for academic years 2023/24 and 2024/25. This is because there is no KS1 baseline available to calculate primary progress measures for these years due to Covid-19 disruption.
