Reception is where the adventure begins!!

In Reception the teachers are Mrs Chorlton, Mrs Westwood, Mrs Smith and Miss Ainsworth. 

Our classroom is a busy place filled with play, curiosity, and big imaginations. Every day, children are encouraged to dream, to believe in themselves, and to achieve in their own wonderful ways.

Through hands‑on fun, outdoor exploring, and plenty of chatting, building, painting, counting, and storytelling, children grow in confidence and independence while making new friends along the way. 

A few key pieces of informtion to be aware of: 

Only water in water bottles (medical conditions and diets can be discussed)

All children will need a pair of wellies for school

All uniform, PE kits, shoes, bags, hats and coats MUST be named 

Alongside all of our play, we have daily phonics sessions following the RWInc programme. This starts from day one in Reception, and the children love the sayings, characters, and routines. We also have our daily English and maths lessons. In Reception, maths grows from playful exploration into early number confidence. Children get hands‑on with counting, sorting, building, and spotting patterns, and they begin to understand numbers to 10 securely. As their confidence grows, they practise counting past 20, compare quantities, talk about shapes and measures, and solve simple problems through everyday play.
