Learning to Read
At Gorsewood we understand that for every child to read successfully they need to have a strong phonic knowledge – recognising each of the graphemes, decoding and blending effortlessly and reading with fluency and expression.
We think the following videos are quite helpful in demonstrating the way we teach phonics at Gorsewood.
Phonics Play is also a useful website full of lots of free resources.
Additional guidance from the government on the phonics screening can be found here.
There are also a number of video links in our English curriculum folder which model the delivery of key elements of ReadWriteInc Phonics and how they can be applied to reading.
