Home Reading
Reading is important and is a skill that can open up opportunities across the curriculum and enable you to find out about the world. Reading is a prioriyu at our school and we want our children and families to foster a love of reading.
We will be completing lots of reading tasks in school but reading at home can support you and is something you can do to help you make excellent progress across the curriculum. Remember, the more you read, the more you will know.
All children will need a home reading book and reading at home will be recorded in their journal. We do expect that children will read at least 3 times every week. Year 6 children might read to themselves but we would still ask parents to sign the journals. House points and Be Your Best Self tickets will be given to children who are reading and returning their journal daily. If you read 5 times a week for a whole half term then you will be invited to our 'Starbooks Cafe'.
Homework: Set on Friday and due back in on Wednesday.
Homework helps children by recapping learning that has taken place in the classroom. It is important that homework is completed every week. Homework will be set on Google Classroom. Please request paper copies from Miss Wright if children work better this way.
Year 6 SATs
In Year 6, children sit their Sats, which are the statutory assessments all Year 6 children in England complete. These tests are important, but we don't want anybody to worry about them; we will be prepared and ready when they start in May. We ask that children are not absent during SAT's.
