Barclays Lifeskills Day

Year 6 have been invited to Barclays, Northwich to take part in a lifeskills day. The day began with some ice breakers to find out what we want to be when we are older & a spaghetti tower team challenge.

Next we learnt a little about internet safety. We particularly enjoyed the video showing how kids react to old technology.

We went on a tour of the building and were particularly impressed with the facilities provided for the staff.

Next up we considered a range of different jobs and the skills needed to be successful in them. It was interesting to see how so many skills such as communication & computer literacy were needed in so many different jobs.

After Lunch we have spent time looking at household budgets. We thought £1000 was a lot of money until we considered all of the costs associated with day to day living. As most of us were over our budgets we then spent some time discussing the differences between a want and a need.
