This term we have a lot planned!

In Literacy we will be following the Language and Literacy programme which is a continuation from the Read Write Inc lessons. The programme follows on from developing reading through phonics but encourages children to read, write and understand texts at a higher level.

In Mathematics we will continue to follow Mastery Maths, a programme which aids pupils to develop a greater depth of understanding maths skills. This term we will be improving our knowledge of money, length and handling data

Our topic work will be The Romans.

Who were they? What did they do? When did they live? What impact did they have on Britain?

Here are a few websites to help you answer these questions.

PE will be taught on a Monday and Thursday. We suggest you leave your PE kit in school and take it home each half term. PE kits should contain a tshirt, shorts, spare socks and pumps. As the weather gets cooler it might be worth putting in a spare jumper too.

As well as whole-school Shining Stars assemblies and Golden Time, Year 4 have a heavily-weighted reward system: counters are given daily (winning table recieves a prize) and Marble Day (marbles are recieved by excellent whole class behaviour) treats are enjoyed every term - we really look forward to these!

Please sign up to our Marvellous Me App to recieve messages about your childs achievements and developments in class!

Homework is set every other Friday. Children who return their homework will have their name entered into a draw and the winner receives a prize at the end of each half-term. We understand that there may be circumstances which prevent your child from bringing homework in; however, Mrs Westwood offers a lunchtime homework club every Thursday to accommodate and support all children.

If you would like to speak to Mrs Westwood, please arrange a meeting or phone call with a member of staff on the door in the morning.
